I found the rainbow and struck gold.

A 3-part series of How I Found My Fountain of Youth.

Introduction

In part I, we talked about walking among giants and how that was the beginning of self-rejuvenation for me. Part II, I will tell you about the rainbows I saw on the coast and how I struck gold, the journey that continued self-rejuvenation.

The story about the rainbow

On this day, I went to the coast, and it looked like the rain was going to clear soon. I had a book I had brought to read and was in no hurry to go anywhere else. I sat in the car and read until the rain was gone.

After the rains had cleared and before I got out of the car, I took a picture of the pelicans flying by. I came to love these birds while I was there. Before getting out of the vehicle. I said out loud, "Lord, I would like to see a rainbow today; how beautiful would that be?"

After getting out of the car and walking along the beach, a fishing boat was coming into the harbor. I was taking in the nice clean salt water air.

What the rainbow meant to me as a child: His promise

Growing up as a preacher's kid, I was taught from a young age that a rainbow was God's promise.

Magical

In my simple little mind seeing a rainbow was magical. I remember feeling happy and excited when I saw a rainbow. I could not understand how such beautiful colors could appear in the sky.

After a storm, there is hope.

As I got older, I would look for the rainbow when the sun was shining while raining. Later in life, the symbolism for me translates to a lot more. In life, we all have storms, times that are hard, and times that don't feel good, but those times won't last. There is a silver lining or a rainbow at the end of the storm.

Tears of joy

I turned around, and there it was; my prayer was answered. My first beautiful rainbow and a double while on the coast. I face-timed my husband, and he asked me why I was crying; he thought something was wrong. I also shared this time with my daughter and sister. It was a joyous moment for me. The rainbow lingered in the sky the longest I had ever seen. It must have been there for 15 minutes. This was at Sport Haven Beach in Brookings, Oregon. The perfect beach for a perfect rainbow. One of my favorite places to stay.

Another day another rainbow in Gold Beach on the Oregon Coast after a storm. I was barely able to capture it before it was gone.

The myth

We all have heard there is a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow, and there is a leprechaun guarding it. I struck GOLD!!!

Child's play

I don't know about you, but I played outside as a child and in the mud. I made mud pies and stomped in mud puddles. If I didn't come inside at the end of the day covered in dirt and mud, I didn't play that day. I always wanted to find the gold at the end of the rainbow. I hoped as a child that I would.

I played in the mud

As much as I would love to go off-topic about how to gold pan and what I learned, I will stay on topic. I can be like a squirrel sometimes and go in many different directions. However, I had two co-workers in Oregon, John and Ken, whom I consider my dear friends, who took me gold panning. I sat beside a picturesque flowing stream on a rock with my feet in the water and a pan of dirt in my hands. I worked the dirt into the pan's water, which became mud. I sat there thinking, who would have thought I would be playing in the mud at my age? They taught me how to swirl the pan, dip it in the water, and wash the mud out until there was nothing but a few pebbles, black sand, and gold.

My good friends John and Ken.

I didn't only find gold. I had an adventure, and I made friends that would be lifelong. I cannot thank my friends John and Ken enough for taking me and giving me this experience I will never forget. I must say. It is hard work. I can't wait to go back to Oregon and do it again with my friends.

Conclusion

Praying for a rainbow, seeing it, making friends, going on new adventures, and experiencing this life and all it has to offer gives me great hope that you will seek your fountain of youth. For me, remembering the promise God promised and seeing the beauty and the magic feeling it brings to me. The rainbow also reminds me of the storms of life. Life is not easy. The storms are only for a time. After the storm, we are able to see the beauty that comes. Playing in the mud, and the creek and finding the gold was a child's dream come true. All this led was the second part of finding the Fountain of My Youth
